Manchester United have been handed a significant boost ahead of their crucial Europa League semi-final first leg against Athletic Bilbao, with both Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt returning to first-team training at Carrington on Wednesday .

Amad Diallo, the 22-year-old Ivorian winger, had been sidelined since February due to an ankle ligament injury that was initially expected to rule him out for the remainder of the season. However, he has made a remarkable recovery and rejoined training with the squad. Before his injury, Diallo had been one of United's standout performers, contributing nine goals and eight assists across all competitions . Source: The Sun

Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt also returned to training after missing the last six games with a foot injury. His comeback is timely, as United's defense has been stretched thin due to injuries to key players like Lisandro Martínez and Diogo Dalot .ESPN.com

While it's uncertain whether either player will start in Thursday's match at San Mamés, their return provides manager Ruben Amorim with additional options as he navigates a challenging period for the team .

United's recent form has been inconsistent, with the team currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League. Their hopes for European competition next season hinge on success in the Europa League, making the return of Diallo and de Ligt all the more significant .
